We’re looking for a part-time hustler + magic maker to join our lean MAAARI team. They will manage existing community partnerships, help source sustainably + ethically made products + raw materials, + will run all PH-based operations and logistics. S/he will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will work very closely with our Chief Creative Officer.
ROLES + RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing Partner Relationships
Support the production of all PH-created goods by corresponding with our PH-based makers/organizations/brands on a regular basis + ensure they’re meeting our production schedule + quality standards. S/he will troubleshoot roadblocks, identify best practices for communicating with each individual partner + streamline production practices to help scale MAAARI production.
Help source mission + design-aligned makers, raw materials, organizations + partners in the Philippines. S/he will identify + vet each source + contribute to MAAARI’s maker + material database. From talented indigenous weavers, to innovative fabrics, to mission-driven organizations impacting the lives of Filipinos, we are interested in exploring as many partnerships as possible.
Operations + Logistics
Coordinate all shipping, receiving + forwarding of goods, both domestically + internationally. S/he will manage purchase orders, invoices + partnership agreements with community partners and track the movement of all incoming + outgoing inventory.
Our Community Partnerships Manager will inspect samples + finished goods to ensure they meet MAAARI quality standards. S/he will communicate improvements needed to community partners + manage follow-through. S/he will ensure all domestic + international shipments are securely packaged for a safe + complete arrival to its destination.
Musts: Passion for improving the lives of artisans and maker communities in the Philippines. Interest in thoughtful + responsible design. Entrepreneurial + hustler spirit. Knows how to get sh*t done. Excellent written + oral communication skills to a diverse array of audiences. Creative problem-solver. Deep understanding of how business is done in PH. Proficient + prolific emailer, texter, viber-er, What’sApp-er + social network communicator. Proficient at Google Drive + Google Docs. Willing to travel domestically on an occasional basis. Agile. Great Tagalog + English. Self-starter + independent leader.
Pluses: MAAARI lover. Degree in business, design, sustainability, cultural history, or related field. Ability to speak multiple Filipino dialects. Experience in production management, retail, material sourcing, creative design, operations, material sourcing, nonprofits, or related industry. Relationships with maker communities in the Philippines. Eye for design. Pulse for market trends. Sense of humor. Mission-driven. Results-oriented.
